Dream Stealers

Broken Window

“How much did they pay you to give up on your dreams?” – Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) in “Up in the Air”

People everyday are walking through a miserable existence of a life because they did one thing…GAVE UP.

Sometimes we are our own worst dream stealer because we are trying to achieve illusionary dreams. These are dreams we will never be able to achieve, yet we pump ourselves up with the possibility so much that when we do realize it can’t happen we feel our life has crashed…so we give up.

Other times the dream stealer is other people who tell us what we can’t do. These people steal the very dreams out from us by planting seeds of doubt. They may encourage us to pursue the back-up plan more than the dream…so we give up.

Sometimes the dream stealer is our effort in the pursuit. We have a dream but we never truly put anything into it. Setting a dream or just dreaming in itself doesn’t get us anywhere…we have got to go after it with a dogged determination that never stops.

So I say let’s stop letting the stealers have their way…

  • Start Dreaming Realistic Dreams
  • Develop A Plan To Reach Them
  • Work Hard

I don’t think it’s as much a joy of reaching our dream as realizing the process of going after the dream changes and makes us who we are. It is good to have a dream, better to have a realistic dream and best to work towards achieving your realistic dreams.

How have your dreams been stolen?
